In this article you will find good explanation and the use of SEO or lets say the formal name Search Engine Optimization.  You will get the basic understanding of SEO in a everyday language.

What is Search Engine Optimization ( SEO ) 

SEO mainly means optimizing your website for better search results.  Making your website lovely for the robots or some call spiders will give you your espectations for being a good webmaster.

Nobody really knows what exactly SEO is for search engines.  there are many companies out there saying that they will place you in the first 10 of Google or Yahoo ect. but it is never for sure.  Some do work sometimes though.

Search Engine Optimization is making your website friendly to search engine robots.   Placing enough of the keywords into your titles, description, and content.  Also placing these keywords into different tags is very important.

Don’t get confused when I say different tags.  It’s just very simple.  If your content is written in Times New Roman 12 pnt font, you can hi-light your keywords by making them italic, bold or different kind of font ( maybe comic sans).  This is very important because it tells the robots that those keywords are very important to your website than the other loads of words.

Also, using the header tags are very important.  You can check my article on the header tag.  On that article you will see how to use thise tags and their importance.

Back to SEO, placing your keywords into your titles is so important aswell.  But you have to make sure that the keywords on your titles are used in your meta keywords aswell.  Placing “alt” tags into your pictures are important to the Search Engines aswell.

Not only to pictures, placing “title” tags into your hyperlinks are very important aswell.  But you have to make sure that these title and alt tags contain your keywords.

How to make Search Engine friendly Url’s

Making your Url’s search engine friendly is very important aswell.  When I say Search Engine friendly Url’s it means like http://www.your-website-.com/what-do-hamsters-eat.html so when a visitors writes:”what do hamsters eat” on a search engine, your website will have a advantage from a website url`ed http://www.the-website-.com/page-02.html however this does not give guarantee that you will place in front of this website.

Today, nobody knows the exact meaning of SEO and/or what it is, but these tecniques will give you a clue to where to start.
